About Jobforce Wales
In 2010 Gwendraeth Valley Community Enterprise Ltd, trading as Jobforce Wales, completed its twenty-fifth year of trading. Over the years it has adapted to the differing demands of various government funded bodies and now finds itself dealing directly with the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) within the Welsh Government and Jobcentre Plus (JCP) of the Department of Work and Pensions for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The company, a not for profit, limited by guarantee organisation, was originally set up to alleviate unemployment in the Gwendraeth Valley but has expanded its remit over the years to include the provision of learning and training to a wide sector of the community. We now cover the geographical area of Carmarthenshire and Swansea, and are also active in Pembrokeshire to the west and Neath, Port Talbot and Bridgend to the east. We deliver a wide range of programmes under contract to DfES and JCP for employed and unemployed sixteen to sixty five year olds. We are also involved in delivering an Alternative Curriculum Programme for disaffected youth aged fourteen to sixteen in partnership with Local Education Authority schools and other interested parties. We have been pro-active in identifying the needs of both individuals and employers and instrumental and innovative in responding to them.
