Steps To Employment

            

Steps to Employment is a program for 18+ who are in receipt of DWP benefits.
There are two strands available:

  • Work Focused Learning
  • Routeways to Work

Aims

To give you training, guidance and work experience you need to find employment.

Benefits
• Help with travel expenses
• Time off to attend interviews
• Work tasters
• £10 a week on top of your benefits
• Specific job seeking skills, such as CV writing and interview technique
• Training towards a recognised qualification such as City & Guilds

Essential Skills Wales
Essential Skills Wales (previously known as Key Skills) are appropriate for all levels, from learners in the workplace to Chief Executives in large companies. They are the skills most commonly needed for success in education, training, work and life in general. In developing Key Skills, you are improving the quality of your learning and performance both in education and at work. Learners are also provided with the opportunity to develop their literacy and numeracy skills.

Eligibility - you are eligible for this scheme if you:
• Are 18 years or over
• Are a lone parent
• Need support with basic skills

Timescale
• Work Focused Learning - 4-12 Weeks
• Routeways to Work - 2-8 Weeks

Jobcentre Plus logo

Traineeship

Eligible to young people aged 18 or under who have left compulsory education.
There are 2 strands available:

  • Engagement
  • Level 1


Aim
Our Traineeship scheme provides help and support to 16-18 year old individuals in their personal development - assisting young people develop their basic skills.


Eligibility
You are eligible for this scheme if you:
• Are 16-18 years old
• Need support with basic skills and/or job seeking skills
• Are unsure what job they would like to do


Benefits
• A training allowance of at least £30 - £50 per week
• Help with travel expenses
• Work placements and tasters
• Training in basic skills


Essential Skills Wales/Key Skills
These are the skills most commonly needed for success in education, training, work and life in general. In developing Key Skills, you are improving the quality of your learning and performance both in education and work. Learners are also provided with the opportunity to develop their literacy and numeracy skills.

• Engagement - 4-6 Weeks
• Level 1 - 26 Weeks
